The artist

Biography

Manon Gaudet, Mangaud lives in the Montérégie region, and since her tender youth, was rocked by the waves of lakes and rivers and by the extraordinary nature of the Province of Québec. Mangaud's passion for art follows her along her international travels, during her career in STEM, and she ensures to visit museums and art galeries, in search of rejuvenation and to quench her thirst for history of art, admiring the world's masterpieces.

Mangaud thinks differently, and it is how she distinguished herself, as she transposes in her art, these differences of perception and reflexion of the nature surrounding her. Mangaud paint "sur le motif" or "plein-air", constantly seeking for a watercourse or transcends in her studio the emotions felt during those trips.

Artistic Statement

Through my artistic practice, I seek to celebrate the richness and diversity of human mind. By transcending the vigour or calm of the water or earthly elements, using deep, luminous or soothing colours, in more abstract or figurative representation, via oil or acrylic, I express my perception and reflexion of the nature surrounding us.

My art presents a moment in a different space, to appreciate individually, or, in organizations such as spas, health center, or companies where people can feel stressed or anxious, or a fast lifestyle.

It is a privilege for me to share with you this stage of my artistic practice, guided by my quest for comprehension and awareness of different sensibilities, through the representation of natural elements of water and nature surrounding us.

2007-2010 Mentorship by Richard Vaskelis, (1947-2010) (Société National des Beaux-Arts (SNBA), Carrousel du Louvres, Marie de Paris, Vincennes, etc..)
After Richard's death, Mangaud took a pause from painting. She will find the desire to paint again with André van Belle, which she will train with for some years.

From those trainings and mentorships, Mangaud learns fine art technics, compositions, and develops her unicity. She learns to reappropriate her style and discovers working with palette knife. She continues to learn on art history and appreciate the difficulty of creating a new type of painting across time, the social and economic context that forged the painters that we know so well today.
